Helicopter Mother is the new single from Ōtepoti Dunedin based pianist-singer-songwriter Emmanuelle Gomez. Her first release since 2008, it perfectly encapsulates in 3:43 what has happened since.

A powerful tale of the relationships amongst women and between mother and child, of music interwoven through bloodlines and of healing generational trauma, Helicopter Mother was recorded at home on 22.02.22 and was engineered and co-produced by Emmanuelle's long-time friend and collaborator Rhys Tilyard and mastered at Abbey Road London by Sean Magee.

Helicopter Mother is dedicated to Emmanuelle’s children, as well as her mother and grandmother who have both passed but whose greatest gift to her was music. With its soaring melodies and emotive lyrics the song speaks of birth & death, love & grief and of continued relationships with whanau who have left this realm. It also explores the idea that depression and anxiety can be inherited and of doing the work to break that cycle.

Emmanuelle has released 3 solo e.ps; "In a Piece" in 1997, "Half a Glass" in 2001 and "Vegetarian Savage" in 2008. She also released an e.p called "edin" with her former band Evolver in 2004.

Emmanuelle lives in Dunedin New Zealand. She is a Mum of 4 and a yoga teacher.
